Established 2015 Sioux Falls, SD 30 mile service radius

About Sunrise Flooring Solutions

Sunrise Flooring Solutions has installed LVP, tile, and laminate throughout the Sioux Falls metro since 2015. Rachel Torres started the business after eight years of subfloor prep work with a larger regional installer, and that background shows up in every project — the subfloor gets the same attention as the finish material.

We specialize in basement finishing projects, where proper moisture testing and vapor barrier planning make the difference between a 20-year floor and a 3-year headache. About 60% of our work is basement installations for families across the metro.

Our project size sweet spot is $8,000-$18,000 installations. We take on smaller projects when the timing works, and coordinate with partner installers for very large whole-home installations.

Questions to Ask Before You Sign

Based on this installer's specializations, here are the vetting questions worth preparing before the conversation. Bring these to your quote meeting.

1
What's the wear layer thickness in mils on the product you're proposing?
The wear layer determines how long the floor looks new. 12-mil is entry-level; 20-mil is the Sioux Falls family sweet spot; 28-mil is commercial-grade. Any installer who can't answer immediately is a red flag.
2
Will the core be SPC or WPC — and why for this room?
SPC (Stone Plastic) is the safer default for basements and rooms with temperature swings. WPC (Wood Plastic) is warmer and softer, better for kitchens and main living. The right answer varies by room.
3
What's your subfloor moisture testing process for concrete slabs?
Every LVP installation over concrete requires moisture testing (calcium chloride or in-situ RH probe). Skipping this step is the #1 cause of premature LVP failure locally.
4
What vapor barrier plan do you have for below-grade installations?
Basements and slab-on-grade need a vapor barrier. Some LVP products include integrated barriers; others require supplemental. Any installer working your basement should know which.
5
What's the PEI rating on the tile you're quoting?
PEI rating determines what traffic level the tile is rated for. PEI 3 minimum for residential floors; PEI 4 for kitchens and entryways; PEI 5 for mudrooms with heavy family traffic.
6
Ceramic or porcelain — and why for this application?
Ceramic is fine for walls and low-traffic floors. Porcelain is required for wet rooms, high-traffic, and freeze/thaw exposure (outdoor applications, mudrooms).
