About Central Carpet Warehouse

Central Carpet Warehouse has served the Sioux Falls area since 2003, focusing on budget-conscious carpet and LVP installations for families, rentals, and secondary properties. Our showroom on South Minnesota Avenue carries a rotating selection of remnants and roll ends that let us hit price points other installers can’t.

We install nylon and polyester carpet, standard LVP, and laminate. Our warranty is 2 years on workmanship, and we’re transparent about material tier — most of what we carry is budget to mid-range residential grade, appropriate for the applications our customers are typically flooring.

For premium installations with premium specifications, we often refer clients to specialty installers. That’s not a limitation — it’s just about matching the right installer to the project scope.

Questions to Ask Before You Sign

Based on this installer's specializations, here are the vetting questions worth preparing before the conversation. Bring these to your quote meeting.

1
What's the padding density in pounds you're quoting?
Padding density (6/8/10 lb) determines how long the carpet actually lasts. 8-lb is the Sioux Falls default. Cheap 6-lb pad silently voids most carpet warranties and halves lifespan.
2
What carpet fiber is this — nylon, polyester, or wool?
Nylon is the durability leader for high-traffic. Polyester is softer but shows wear faster. Wool is premium but requires specific care. The right choice depends on the room.
3
What's the manufacturer's minimum padding density required for the carpet's warranty?
Premium carpet warranties often specify 8-lb minimum padding. Installing over lighter padding voids the warranty. Match padding to carpet warranty requirements at minimum.
4
How will you handle seams?
Seam placement matters in the finished appearance. Ask where seams will fall in each room and how they'll be handled in doorways and traffic paths.
5
What's the wear layer thickness in mils on the product you're proposing?
The wear layer determines how long the floor looks new. 12-mil is entry-level; 20-mil is the Sioux Falls family sweet spot; 28-mil is commercial-grade. Any installer who can't answer immediately is a red flag.
6
Will the core be SPC or WPC — and why for this room?
SPC (Stone Plastic) is the safer default for basements and rooms with temperature swings. WPC (Wood Plastic) is warmer and softer, better for kitchens and main living. The right answer varies by room.
